Nursing Licensure Examination Result 2009

Some 39,455 nursing examinees passed the November 2008 Nursing Board Exam, with a nursing hopeful from Baguio City topping the highly anticipated list.

A complete list of passers released by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) on Friday showed that the passing rate was 44.51 percent of 88,649 nursing graduates who took the exam on Nov. 29-30, 2008.

The PRC said the exam’s topnotcher was Jovie Ann Alawas Decoyna of the Baguio Central University (BCU), who got a score of 89 percent.

She was joined by 72 other passers – most with tied scores – who were able to squeeze in to the Top 10.

While BCU produced this year’s topnotcher, Saint Paul University in Iloilo, the University of Saint Louis in Tuguegarao, Cagayan and the Foundation University in Dumaguete were No. 1 in the passing rate, with all of their examinees passing.

Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro came next with a passing rate of 99 percent, with 336 of 341 students hurdling the test.

The November 29-30, 2008 examination was administered in 12 areas nationwide, including Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao City, Iloilo City, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Sulu, and Zamboanga City.

The Board of Nursing is composed of its chairman Carmencita Abaquin, and members Leonila Faire, Betty Merritt, Perla Po, Marco Antonio Sto.Tomas, Yolanda Arugay, and Amelia B. Rosales.

congratulations to all board passers for the nurse licensure...now what's the next move ? apply for a job in the U.S. as every filipno nurses' dream about why they took up nursing. well, look on to the situation now, worldwide economy is getting worst and america is one of the big hit. for a foreign nurse to come over here in the U.S., it would take about 4 to 5 years. plus, a lot of money to spend for the CGFNS/NCLEX, TOEFL/Visa screen and find an employer to petition. eh yung mga nurse graduate nga dito mismo sa tate hindi makakuha ng permanent job kayo pang nasa pilipinas ? kaya if i were you guys, magtrabaho muna kayo diyan to gain clinical experience, baka akala 'nyo madali ang trabaho ng RN dito sa america.

Anonymous said...

to all those who failed the recent philippine nurse board exam, don't lose hope. take lang ng take hanggang maipasa 'nyo. iyan kasi ang mahirap sa sistema diyan sa pilipinas. for you to apply for a job, you must be graduate of reputable school with a board exam rate of at least 80%. at bakeeet, is there a difference on the test items who scored below 80 % ? would a nurse be paid higher salary based on the board rating and school of origin? here in the U.S., everybody is the same - no discrimination. dito sa tate, hindi tinatanong ng employer kung ilan beses kang nag-take ng board exam. as long as you have a proof that you passed the NCLEX-RN, no questions ask tanggap ka sa trabaho. employers prefer to hire those nurses with clinical experience, meaning those who works in the hospital setting...hindi nila type ang mga CI's kasi libro lang naman ang alam ng mga iyan. kesehodang graduate ka ng M.A.N or M.S.N. diyan sa 'pinas, it doesn't count...staff nurse pa rin ang position pagdating dito sa america. $300 lang ang difference sa BSN. nurses who are employed in a hospital setting gets a bigger salary compared to those who teach in a school of nursing.

Anonymous said...

it doesn't matter if there's no topnotcher among the UP college of nursing graduates. my gosh, tinatanong pa ba iyan ? just look on their records...100% passing rate. i guess that's the most important thing for a nursing school to take care about. yeah, you see graduates with soaring high scores in the board exam but what's the mortality rate of their nursing school? pass/failure rates determines what a nursing student have learned, not the board rating. if i were the dean of a college of nursing, i would very glad to see a 100% passing rate rather than producing topnotchers. i am not a UP graduate though i came from a reputable nursing school with consistently high passing rate of board exam. for 19 years being in the nursing profession, i realized that it's not from what institution a nurse was educated but it's all about the attitude towards work. diploma is just a piece of paper you receive after graduation - all we learned from the nursing school are the basics of theory and skills, there's still a lot of things to learn along the way. meron nga akong alam diyan, topnotcher nga sa board exam pero nakapatay ng pasyente---gave a double dose of heparin injection. anong say 'nyo ?

Anonymous said...

from an RN here in the U.S.(batch 199?): congratulations to the Class 2008 of ANGELES UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION-College of Nursing for a job well done in the november nurse licensure examination...90% passing rate, 4 topnotchers in the top 10 slot, rank 7 among school with more than 100 examinees, 2nd in the nation with more than 500 examinees...to the mentors, dacal salamat kekayu...samasnan yu and aim for 100% passing in the future
